The windmills, the bakeries… chef’s kiss. It’s like stepping into a fairytale. With its picturesque windmills, quaint shops, and delicious Danish pastries, it’s no wonder why this quaint town has become a beloved destination and I have the ultimate guide on what to do in Solvang in one day.

When I visited the Swedish Candy Shop in Solvang, I spent a good amount of time sampling the different flavors before choosing my favorites. The licorice was especially delicious. You can watch workers at The Swedish Candy Factory make them by hand daily.

This horseback ride was one of the best things I ever paid for. Experience the beauty of the Santa Ynez Valley on horseback. Several local stables offer guided trail rides through scenic landscapes and vineyards. It was such a peaceful and relaxing experience.
Feed the ostriches and emus at Ostrichland
Get up close and personal with ostriches at this unique attraction. It was so fun watching these creatures and getting up close. It’s not often that I get to see ostriches so this was a fun excursion.

This is a cool experience for anyone from kids to adults to enjoy. Fresh ostrich eggs are also available for purchase most of the year and fresh emu eggs during the winter/spring season.

I think this activity is often under looked but it is so fun. Highline Adventures has the biggest and fastest zipline in California and it’s on a gorgeous ranch that you ride around in a humvee. Super fun.
Indulge in Abelskivers at Solvang Restaurant
Prepare for a line at Solvang Restaurant and get ready to try some delicious delicacies known as the Abelskiver. “They are like a waffle or a pancake, formed like a tennis ball” These fluffy, pancake-like treats are topped with sweet raspberry jam and powdered sugar. 🤤 I opted for three for $4 (a steal!) and they were so airy and light.
Take a Day Trip to the Beach at Gaviota State Park
Visit the nearby beach at Gaviota State Park for a day of sun, sand, and surf. This is a State Beach park, so you will need to pay for parking, but well worth the trip and view. We came here at sunset after spending the day in Solvang and it was the perfect ending to the day.
