Best Things To Do in Solvang: A Taste of Denmark Without the Flight

how to spend one day in solvang

Who knew Danish charm existed in California? Solvang, nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley, is a total gem. Located 30 miles north of Santa Barbara, Solvang has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its Danish cuisine and architecture.

The windmills, the bakeries… chef’s kiss. It’s like stepping into a fairytale. With its picturesque windmills, quaint shops, and delicious Danish pastries, it’s no wonder why this quaint town has become a beloved destination and I have the ultimate guide on what to do in Solvang in one day.

Best Time to Visit Solvang

The best time to visit Solvang is during the spring (April-May) or fall (September-October) when the weather is pleasant and crowds are smaller. However, Solvang is a charming destination year-round, with festive events like the Solvang Julefest (Christmas celebration) and the Danish Days Festival.
