Working 12 hours shifts as a registered nurse decreases the amount of time I have to make a meal, so overnight oats has been a lifesaver. Whenever I am short on time, which is most days, I will quickly make a bowl of overnight oats with various different toppings and additions and leave it in the fridge overnight to have ready for the next day. It’s so convenient and it’s just an easy grab and go! It has been a game changer and I have felt a difference in my health.

How healthy are overnight oats?
Oats are one of the healthiest grains to eat. Eating oats can help with weight loss, lowering blood sugars and reduce the risk of heart disease. They are also packed with so many nutrients and antioxidants like manganese and phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and so much more. Grab yourself a stock full of oats to have in your pantry as they are an essential!

How to make overnight oats and what you will need
- Grab some old fashioned oats, to pour into a clean 12-16 ounce mason jar or a resealable container
- Add some additions and toppings such as chia seeds, hemp seeds, and flax seeds , butters and nuts.
- Throw in some additional add ons like collagen powder and cacao powder for chocolate oats
- Throw in some dairy or non-dairy milk, either will work just fine
- Some fruit such as bananas, blueberries or raspberries for sweetness, or alternatively maple syrup and honey will be delicious as well
- Mix everything up well, seal and store in the refrigerate and store overnight
These are just the basics, but you can customize the overnight oats in any way your heart desires.
